Proper Method for removing a face mask
- Before and after handling the mask, wash hands or use hand sanitizer every time!
- Outside of mask is considered dirty
- Keep a paper bag or zip lock bag to store it in
- Never store it in a purse or a pocket
- Do not touch the outside of the mask when it is on your face
Mask use and reuse:
- Clean your hands
- Loop elastic over the ears pull it down to cover under your chin
- Secure it to your face by pinching the mask over your nose if it is a clean mask
- The Mask must cover your nose
- Before removing the mask clean your hands
- Remove the mask using the ear loops
- Fold the mask in half so outside surfaces are touching each other
- Place in your clean storage bag
- Seal the bag if you use a paper bag
- If using a plastic baggie leave it open
- Wash your hands
- Wash the used mask
Proper Method of Removing Protective Gloves
- If you choose to wear rubber/vinyl gloves there is a specific way to remove them, pinch and hold the outside of the glove near the wrist area
- Peel downward away from the wrist, turning the glove inside out
- Pull the glove away until it is removed from the hand
- And hold the inside out glove with the gloved hand
- With ungloved hand, slid your finger/s under the wrist of the remaining glove taking care not to touch the outside of the glove
- Again, peel downward, away from the wrist, turning the glove inside out
- Continue to pull the glove down and over the inside out glove being held in the gloved hand
- This will ensure that both gloves are inside out, one glove enveloped inside the other, with no contaminant on the bare hands.
